Q&A with Catriona Boffard

Catriona Boffard

Clinical Sexologist & Psychotherapist

Where are you from?

Born in South Africa, but raised between SA and the UK. I consider both Cape Town and London home.

Tell us more about your role – what does your day look like?

I always start my day with exercise – usually a walk while listening to a podcast, yoga, or a weight session at gym.

Some days I consult clients until 7pm, other days I’m working on my doctorate, and others I’m developing talks, courses, or podcast episodes – so a lot of time spent in front of my laptop, especially since everything moved online in 2020.

What one piece of advice would you give to someone dealing with anxiety in the bedroom?

Practice mindfulness outside of sex and then bring this practice into the bedroom, focusing your attention on sensations (texture, pressure, temperature, touch)

What do you love most about your job?

It’s pretty phenomenal to be helping people change their relationship with sex from one of performance and pressure to pleasure and permission. Far too many people spend their lives feeling ashamed or anxious about letting go sexually.

What drew you to work with Mojo?

I have loved the ethos of Mojo from day one, and believe we’ve got a lot of work to do to dismantle the harmful narratives around men’s sexuality.

What’s your favorite Mojo course?

Anything featuring Silva Neves! He’s a wealth of knowledge!

Tell us something that not many people know about you...

I’ve recently become a bit addicted to cold water swimming, and head to the beach early morning a couple times a week. Despite it being absolutely freezing, I can truly understand why it’s become such a popular activity.
