Q&A with Jo Coker

Jo Coker

Psychosexual therapist & psychologist

Tell us a bit about yourself

I’m an HCPC registered Counseling Psychologist, a Senior Accredited Psychosexual Therapist, and clinical supervisor.

I’m the COSRT Professional Standards Manager and Chair of the Professional Standards Board. In 2019 I was elected as a Fellow of COSRT for my contribution to the discipline of psychosexual therapy.

I combine psychology and psychosexual therapy training with my previous nursing and health visiting background, to bring a systematic approach to all my work.

Where are you from?

Cornwall, I am a beach girl!

Tell us more about your role – what does your day look like?

I work for COSRT, and my days are varied, very busy, and involve lots of communication.

What one piece of advice would you give to a couple who were experiencing different levels of sexual desire?

Be honest, don’t take requests or suggestions personally, communicate, and laugh. Also, try to be realistic. It doesn’t have to be (and will not always be) perfect.

What do you love most about your job?

The COSRT members and the great work they do.

What drew you to work with Mojo?

Mojo has its finger on the contemporary pulse.

What’s your favorite Mojo course?

I think all of the courses are great because they all offer different types of education.

Tell us something that not many people know about you...

My guilty pleasure is red wine in the bath while listening to Motown.
